Portalegre in Portugal is closer to the Spanish border in the eastern area. There is a walking tour of the town which starts at the Cathedral and finishes at Saint Bernardo Covenant. There are various paintings exhibited by local artists in the Municipal Museum. Other exhibits include glassware and religious life. Castelo de Vide is around 20 km drive from Portalegre, nestled in the hill tops. This town’s residents take great pride in preserving tradition values. Each house is covered in red flowers.
