Most car rental companies have an insurance excess with the car rental policy. In North America this is referred to as a deductible. The car rental company will provide insurance or collision damage waiver (C.D.W ) to cover the risk of damage to the rented car. However they pass some of the risk to the customer in the form of an insurance excess.
These are the options available through Alamo.
There is alternative cover available to purchase from an insurance company.

Damage Liability Waiver includes Collision Damage Waiver & Theft protection. If DW is purchased it reduces the amount of the renters damage responsibility to the sum of the deductible. If declined the customer will be required to sign documentation taking responsibility up to full value of the car in the event of Theft of Damage. LDW costs as follows: 1 - 2 days £8.69 per day, 3 - 6 days £6.51 per day, 7+ days £4.34 per day. Daily prices exclude tax.

Third Party Insurance (TPI): Third Party Insurance is compulsory under UK law and is included in your rental charge. Our Third Party Insurance insures against unlimited liability for death or bodily injury, and for damage to other peoples property up to a limit of GBP 25m.
TW1 - Theft Liability Waiver if purchased, will reduce the deductible. This product is only available to those customers who decline our DLW insurance, but want coverage against theft. TLW costs as follows: 1 - 2 days £8.69 per day, 3 - 6 days £6.51 per day, 7+ days £4.34 per day. Daily prices exclude tax.

Personal Accident Insurance (PAI): If purchased provides coverage for baggage and personal effects, medical expenses, personal accidents and emergency travel. Price GBP 6.08 per day, plus Tax.
